Israeli Strikes in Gaza Kill at Least 30 as Ground Offensive Expands

According to the authorities, at least 30 people have been killed since dawn and it is "not the final number". A single attack on the city of Khan Yunis is said to have taken 25 lives, according to information from Nasser Hospital provided to the news agency AFP.

The information comes shortly after Israel's military announced that the ground offensives in the Gaza Strip will be expanded even further.

"In the past few hours, soldiers have begun conducting ground operations in Shujaiyya (Shejaiya) in northern Gaza Strip, to expand the security zone", it says in a statement.

Shujaiyya is a relatively central city district in Gaza City, east of the old city walls.

Israel has faced harsh criticism for its ruthless warfare since the country unilaterally broke the ceasefire in the Gaza War in March. According to UN estimates, over a quarter of a million Palestinians have again been forced to flee in the attacks.

The Gaza War was triggered by Hamas' large-scale attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
