Israel has already decided at the end of May that they killed Mohammed Sinwar, younger brother of the previously deceased long-time leader Yahya Sinwar.
He is said to have been the target of an Israeli attack with a bunker bomb against Khan Yunis in southern Gaza on May 13.
It is also there, in a tunnel under the European hospital, where Israel's military (IDF) now says it has found and identified Sinwar's body.
A spokesperson for the IDF tells journalists on site that the body was found "right under the emergency department".
Mohammed Sinwar is believed to have taken over as Hamas' military leader after his brother's death in October 2024.
