The film by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival and features interviews with whistleblowers within the Israeli military, who testify to how AI-powered targeting systems were used to intentionally kill thousands of civilians in Gaza.
Culture Minister Miki Zohar now wants the authorities to investigate how the material came to light and whether its publication may have aided the enemy during wartime. "Freedom of expression is not a license to betray the state," Zohar writes on X.
He has also asked the Home Office to consider revoking the directors' citizenship for "treason".
The military questions the film's anonymous testimony and Israel denies that civilians are being deliberately attacked.
