Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar accuses the British government of having allowed "obvious and widespread anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli incitement" to spread in the country.

"The British authorities have failed to take necessary measures to stop this toxic wave of antisemitism", the minister writes on the platform X after Thursday's attack on a synagogue in Manchester.

The attack occurred in connection with a prayer meeting during the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur and is being investigated as a terrorist act. Two people died and three are being treated for serious injuries after the perpetrator drove into people and then attacked with a knife. The man, who had a fake bomb belt on him, was shot dead by the police.

The Chief Rabbi of the British Commonwealth Ephraim Mirvis also calls the attack a result of "an incessant wave of Jew-hatred".
