The military has not provided any details regarding how far into Lebanese territory it has advanced.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has said in recent weeks that the country wants to establish what he called a "security zone" in Lebanon, with the aim of preventing rocket and drone attacks on communities in northern Israel.
Since Israel's ground offensive in Lebanon began on March 2, an estimated 1.2 million people have been displaced and more than 1,400 people have been killed.
