The decision to close Israel's embassy in Dublin has been made in light of an extreme, anti-Israeli policy from the Irish government's side," writes the Foreign Ministry in a statement.

Ireland says the decision is "deeply regrettable".

"I completely reject the claim that Ireland is anti-Israel. Ireland is for peace, for human rights and for international law," writes Ireland's Prime Minister Simon Harris on X.

In recent times, Ireland has recognized Palestine, backed the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the case against Netanyahu, and also accused Israel of genocide in Gaza.
