On Saturday, three journalists were killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon. Following the attacks, the Israeli military published a post on X accusing one of them, Ali Hassan Shaib, of being part of the armed wing of the Iran-backed militia group Hezbollah.
The post included an image merging two photos of Shaib, a longtime correspondent for the Hezbollah-owned al-Manar television channel, one of which depicted him in military uniform. But Israel now admits the photo was fake.
"Unfortunately, there is no such photo, it was photoshopped," the Israeli military said in a written comment to Fox News.
