Sameh Egyptson's controversial thesis on global political Islam has after a comprehensive review been approved by the Board for Assessment of Misconduct in Research. But the board notes at the same time five serious cases of deviations from good research practice in the thesis.

In total, the committee has assessed 111 different suspected inaccuracies, reports SVT News Skåne. It is, for example, about alleged factual errors, manipulation of original sources and shortcomings in scientific reasoning.

The dissertation was corrected on several points afterwards by Egyptson. The committee writes in the decision that five serious deviations from good research practice remain in the dissertation, but notes that it is not considered to have been Egyptson's intention to falsify information.

It is also about relatively few deviations in a comprehensive dissertation work and therefore the committee has come to the conclusion that he has not been guilty of misconduct in research.

This is a major victory on all points, comments Egyptson to SVT.

The dissertation, with the title "Global political Islam? Muslim Brotherhood and Islamic Association in Sweden", was approved by Lund University in 2023 and thereby Egyptson received the title of Doctor of Theology. It proves, according to the author, that Swedish society is infiltrated by Islamists.
