Yasin Ayari took the ball with his hand and caused the penalty. Alexander Isak took care of the penalty that saved a point for Newcastle.

Yes, it was Swedish national team colleagues who landed in the leading roles when Brighton and Newcastle played 1–1 in Premier League football.

Substitute Ayari flailed his arm clumsily and blocked a free kick when Newcastle were chasing an equalizer in the final minutes.

The penalty was clear-cut and Alexander Isak shot it safely into the goal in the 89th minute. It was the blue-yellow attacking star's 23rd league goal for the season.

The away points were important for Newcastle in the battle for one of the five Champions League spots that are at stake. With three matches remaining, Newcastle lies fourth with 63 points, but fifth-place Chelsea later caught up on the same points on Sunday when the already crowned champions Liverpool were defeated.

On Monday, sixth-place Nottingham, who visit Crystal Palace, can also reach 63 points.

Sunday's other two matches: West Ham–Tottenham 1–1 and Brentford–Manchester United 4–3.
