Goals in seven consecutive Premier League matches. Goals in four matches in a row in all competitions.
There was no doubt about Alexander Isak's goal form ahead of the first of two semifinals against Arsenal in the League Cup.
The Swede was also distinct when he finally got the chance.
The ball was sent long by goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, was headed on by Sven Botman and Jacob Murphy before it ended up at the Swede's feet – then the striker dunked in 1–0 via the crossbar in the 37th minute.
The 25-year-old was involved in 2–0, as his shot became the rebound that Anthony Gordon pushed into the goal in the 51st minute.
14 minutes later, Isak had finished his game.
It was, however, Arsenal that started the best, created the most chances, and came closest to scoring was Gabriel Martinelli who hit the post nearly half an hour into the game at Emirates.
Eight minutes later, Isak changed the game when he scored the visitors' leading goal and eventually ensured that Newcastle is closer to the final at Wembley on March 16.
But before anything is settled, the semifinal return will be played at St James' Park in Newcastle on February 5.
The League Cup's other semifinal is played between Tottenham and Liverpool, where the first meeting is decided on Wednesday.
