The record was set in Wednesday's European Championship quarter-final, when Sweden lost to world champions Italy 3-1.

However, the European Volleyball Confederation's statistics only go back to 2011, through this year's European Championship.

After the match against Italy, in which Haak was credited with 42 points, it was clear that the Swedish spiker had scored a total of 247 points during the championship.

I can only thank the team for giving me all these opportunities, but it's not something I set as a goal to tick off. Then, of course, it's fun for the team that I've been able to contribute, Isabelle Haak says.

Before the quarter-finals, Serbia's Tijana Bošković was top, having been credited with 229 points during Euro 2023. Serbia then reached the final against Turkey, but finished second.

Earlier in the tournament, Haak also broke the European Championship record for a single match in the group stage, when she scored 52 points against Croatia.
