"We haven't 100 percent decided what we're going to do," says national coach Heimir Hallgrimsson.
When Ireland protested the war in Gaza on Sunday in connection with the 3-0 victory in Hungary, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar went on the attack, accusing the Irish national team of "being on the wrong side of history."
After a vote in the squad, Ireland chose to play the match, but there are differing opinions on the issue within the group.
"And we should allow people to have different opinions. It's not that one opinion is right and all the others are wrong," says Hallgrimsson.
The return match next Sunday is a home match for Ireland, but it will be played in Serbia behind closed doors. Before that, Austria awaits in Dublin on Thursday.
