"Our armed forces are a dominant force and the enemy is looking for a way to save face and escape the hardships that the war has put them in," a spokesman said in a statement quoted by the pro-regime news agency ISNA.

The statement comes ahead of Pakistan's expected reception of Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, and the president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, on Saturday for talks on the war. According to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, they will meet with the Iranian delegation.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad late on Friday and met with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, and Army Chief Asim Munir, among others. However, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said no direct talks with the Americans were planned. Instead, the ministry said the country's position will be conveyed to Pakistan.
