Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff and the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner will no longer travel to Pakistan, Trump tells Fox News.
"We all have cards. They can call us anytime they want," Trump says, adding that they will not be "taking any more 18-hour flights to sit and talk about nothing."
"That doesn't mean the United States will resume the war," Trump told Axios.
"No. It doesn't mean that. We haven't thought about it yet," the president says.
“Not enough”
Iran's counter-proposal presented to Pakistan, the mediator, on Saturday was not good enough, according to Trump.
"They offered a lot, but not enough."
Trump further wrote on his Truth Social platform that there is “tremendous internal strife and confusion” within the Iranian regime and that “no one knows who is in charge.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi left Islamabad earlier on Saturday, after meetings with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is mediating between Iran and the United States.
"Shared Iran's position regarding a workable framework to permanently end the war against Iran. It remains to be seen if the US is really serious about diplomacy," Araghchi writes on X.
Threatens to respond
Iran's foreign minister has traveled on to Oman but is expected to return to Pakistan as early as Sunday, according to the state-controlled Iranian news agency Irna.
Part of the Iranian delegation has reportedly traveled back to Tehran to obtain instructions regarding the war and is expected to reunite with Araghchi in Islamabad on Sunday evening, according to Irna.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he spoke by phone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday evening. He stressed that Pakistan continues to work to promote lasting peace.
Iran's military headquarters said in a separate statement on Saturday that Iran will respond if the US maintains its blockade of Iranian ports, and that the US is acting like pirates and bandits.
