The death toll in Iran after the war with Israel has been written up to 1,060 people, according to a high-ranking official in an interview on Iranian state television. At the same time, the official warns that the figure can be expected to rise, considering how seriously some people were injured.
The war between Israel and Iran lasted for twelve days, starting on June 13 when Israel launched a massive bombing campaign against Iran. A number of top military personnel and nuclear physicists were killed.
The war ended after the US intervened on Israel's side and bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities with so-called bunker busters. It is still unclear how much damage they caused, but both from Washington and Iranian sources, there have been reports of "severe damage" to the nuclear facilities.
