Israel is reported to have launched an air strike on a building where Iran's national security council was holding a meeting in the capital Tehran on June 16 – four days into the war, reports The Times of Israel citing the Iranian news agency Fars.

Several high-ranking leaders were in the building for the meeting.

Six bombs or missiles hit the entrances to the building. According to the report, this was to lock in those who were there, or to restrict air supply.

Despite a power outage in the building, the meeting participants were able to escape through an emergency exit. Pezeshkian and other participants injured their legs, according to the report.

Last week, the president said that Israel had tried to kill him.

I was in a meeting. They tried to bomb the area where the meeting was being held, he said in an interview with American TV personality Tucker Carlson.

It was on June 13 that Israel launched a massive bombing campaign against Iran, in which over 900 Iranians were killed, including a number of top military leaders and nuclear physicists. The US also bombed Iranian nuclear energy facilities.
