Iranian official says US midterm results show Americans oppose war

According to an Iranian interpretation of the US midterm election results, Americans are voting no to war.

Whether it is a matter of “conscience or the cost of living,” the American people have said no to war, Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf, who is leading Iran’s negotiations on a solution to the war with the United States, writes on social media.

Polling stations in the United States have shown that voters’ top concerns were the economy and democracy. However, in his first comments, US President Donald Trump admits that the war he started against Iran earlier this year also played a role.

In an interview with The New York Times, Trump says voters probably don’t object that much to the war itself and that he doesn’t regret the decision to start it.

“But they probably weren’t that happy with the price of oil,” Trump says.
