The ship was hit by an “unknown projectile”, which caused a fire on board, according to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The fire was reportedly extinguished, and the ship was able to continue sailing.
Mediation is reportedly underway between Iran and the US in New York, where an Iranian delegation attended the UN General Assembly this week. There, Iran has proposed opening the Strait of Hormuz to traffic if the US meets its demands, including by easing sanctions.
