The warning on Sunday was issued by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi on X:
"We remind the countries that in both wartime and peacetime, only Iran can ensure the security of this strait, and Iran will not allow any other country to interfere."
An intervention will be met with "a firm and immediate response."
President Emmanuel Macron said Sunday that France has not considered sending warships to the strait; he added that a French operation there "would be coordinated with Iran."
Britain has announced that HMS Dragon is heading towards the Middle East for a possible presence in the strait.
