"Security in the strait will be established with strength, authority and grandeur by the Islamic Republic of Iran, and countries must pay taxes in return," said MP Somayeh Rafiei, according to the pro-regime news agency ISNA.

She added that Parliament has proposed a plan under which countries would pay both taxes and customs fees to pass through the strait.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said earlier this week that maritime traffic “will not return to its pre-war status.”

Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has almost completely ceased since the outbreak of war on February 28. In recent days, Iran has allowed some ships to pass.
