Sources to NBC state that the threat reached Trump through an intermediary during the G7 summit in Canada last week. According to two American officials and another source described as having "knowledge of the threat", it was after this that the American president left the summit prematurely, to consider his options against Iran.
The US Department of Homeland Security has, after the US attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend, warned that "the Iran conflict is causing an increased threat picture in the US". The statement mentions an increased risk of terrorist attacks. The Department of Homeland Security also warns that Iran may attack with cyber attacks.
