Two French citizens are sentenced to long prison terms in Iran, accused of having spied for Israel, reports AFP.

The two individuals, who have not been named, were arrested in March 2023 according to Iranian authorities. One of them was sentenced to "6 years in prison for spying for the French intelligence service, 5 years for involvement in crimes against national security and 20 years in exile for intelligence cooperation with the Zionist regime", writes AFP.

The other was sentenced to prison for 10, 5 and 17 years for the same offenses. In Iran, prison sentences for different crimes are served in parallel rather than being stacked on top of each other, according to the news agency.
