The threat from Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei was read out by proxy on Iranian state television on Saturday night. The statement also said that the US breach of the agreement “once again showed everyone that the US president’s signature is worthless.”
Earlier on Saturday, the country's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced that Iran is no longer implementing the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran a month ago.
Attacks on infrastructure
The United States continued its attacks on Iran overnight Saturday, for the seventh consecutive night. Iran has responded with continued attacks on targets in countries around the Persian Gulf.
Kuwait on Saturday accused Iran of repeated attacks on civilian targets and critical infrastructure after an oil facility and a seawater desalination plant were hit, marking the second consecutive day that desalination plants in Kuwait have been attacked.
Iraq says it has shot down drones over the city of Irbil, and Jordan's state-run Petra news agency says its air defenses have shot down Iranian missiles. Airstrikes are also being reported from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
The Gulf Cooperation Council condemns Iranian attacks on civilian infrastructure in the region, saying they amount to war crimes.
Several fatalities
Two American soldiers were killed in an Iranian airstrike in Jordan on Friday, the US military command Centcom said on X.
Meanwhile, Iran claims that the latest US attacks have caused civilian casualties. As earlier this week, explosions were heard on Saturday night in the cities of Bandar Abbas and Ahvaz, as well as on the island of Qeshm.
Iranian television reports that a desalination plant in Hormozgan province has been attacked. According to the state news agency Irna, the plant, which supplies water to 10,000 people, has been destroyed. A similar plant on the island of Qeshm has reportedly been damaged.
Two tunnels and a bridge connection for the main road to Bandar Abbas, Iran's largest port city, have also been attacked, according to Irna.
