The ships, which reportedly attempted to pass with the help of American air support, were stopped and turned back, according to the Revolutionary Guard.
Meanwhile, Iran has carried out new drone attacks on US military facilities in Kuwait, according to Iran's military. In a statement, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that it had attacked aircraft hangars and facilities at the Ahmad al-Jaber military base.
The US military command, Centcom, has not commented on the information.
In recent days, the US has carried out several attacks on targets in both Iran and Iraq, following a couple of days of lull in fighting between the US and Iran. Iran has in turn attacked US targets in the Middle East.
