The Revolutionary Guard says the individuals worked for the Israeli intelligence service Mossad and that the arrests were carried out in the northern parts of the country.
"The four agents with links to Mossad were arrested in Gilan province," the state news agency IRNA reported, citing a statement.
It is unclear what nationality they are.
"Those arrested have provided Mossad intelligence officers with images and locations of certain sensitive and critical military and security facilities over the internet," the statement continues.
The parties to the Iran-Iraq war are currently observing a ceasefire. A first round of negotiations broke down in Pakistan last week.
