”It is important that they understand, above all after the latest war, that Iran's position remains unwavering and that our enrichment of uranium will continue. We will not give up Iran's population's right”, he says in a statement according to the state-linked Iranian news agency Tasnim.

The statement can be seen as a response to the threat from European leaders to reintroduce sanctions against Iran's alleged nuclear weapons development.

The meeting being held in Istanbul in Turkey is the first since the twelve-day war between Iran and Israel, as well as Israel's ally USA. The war broke out just two days before Iran and USA were to continue their negotiations about Iran's nuclear program.

Prior to the war, the UN's atomic energy organization IAEA estimated that Iran has around 400 kilos of uranium that has been enriched up to 60 percent. For the uranium to be used in weapons, it needs to reach an enrichment level of 90 percent, which is only a few technical steps away.
