Ahead of Friday's friendly match against Nigeria (1–2) in Turkey, the players lined up with purple and pink schoolbags.

Over 170 people were killed, most of them children, when an elementary school adjacent to a military facility was attacked on February 28, as the US and Israel launched their war against Iran.

US President Donald Trump has blamed the attack on Iran, but Amnesty International and other analysts believe the US is likely behind the deadly attack.

Iran has qualified for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, but it is still uncertain whether the national team can participate.
