According to Iranian state television, the explosions on Qeshm Island occurred when Iranian military and "enemy forces" fired at each other.

The information from Iran varies, but according to state television, the U.S., "in cooperation with some regional countries," attacked Qeshm and the city of Bandar Abbas on the mainland.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) wrote on X that Iran attacked three military ships "without provocation," but that they were not hit. CENTCOM said it then struck "military facilities responsible for attacking U.S. forces."

A U.S. military source told Fox News that the attack "is neither a restart of the war nor a violation of the ceasefire."

According to the Iranian military, the U.S. first attacked an Iranian oil tanker moving toward the Strait of Hormuz, thereby breaking the ceasefire in Iran's view.
