Iran has executed a man who was found guilty of spying for Israel.

The Iranian judiciary announced on Sunday that the man had been executed after the Supreme Court upheld the verdict. The man is said to have spied for the Israeli intelligence service between October 2023 and February 2024.

"The execution of this spy took place after confirmation from the Supreme Court and a rejection of a pardon in Qom prison" where the convicted man was hanged on Saturday.

Iran claims that the man confessed to contact with the Israeli Mossad. The person's identity has not been made public.

A few people have previously been executed in Iran for spy contacts with Israel in connection with the war between the two countries in June.

Earlier in October, six people have also been executed after being convicted of terrorist activities.
