The Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi's win of the Golden Palm at the film festival in Cannes has had repercussions.
Iran on Sunday summoned France's chargé d'affaires in Tehran after "offensive" comments by France's Foreign Minister.
"After the offensive comments and unfounded accusations from the French minister... the country's chargé d'affaires in Tehran has been called to the department", reports the state news agency Irna.
France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot has in a post on X called Jafar Panahi's victory in Cannes "a resistance statement against the Iranian regime's oppression".
