All museums in Iran are closed. The authorities have decided this as a result of Israel's deadly attacks on the country, writes the daily newspaper Gulf Today.

All museums are urged to move valuable items to safer locations.

Iran has a rich cultural history that stretches back thousands of years, and the country has over 800 museums with extensive and valuable art collections.

The National Museum in Iran's capital Tehran houses over 300,000 objects, while the modern museum has significant collections with works by prominent artists such as Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock.
