Trump says Iran talks at UN were very good as Pezeshkian arrives in New York

Talks between Iran and the United States have been taking place behind the scenes at the UN General Assembly in New York, which President Trump described as “very good.” Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is expected to speak on Wednesday.

For three hours, representatives from Iran and the United States held talks that US President Donald Trump described as "very good" and "very productive."

"We have another meeting scheduled in the near future," Trump told reporters.

Just hours earlier, the president had given a speech in which he said he was facing a “big decision”:

Will a deal be made with Iran that allows them to rebuild and create a much better country than it ever was before?

Or should I destroy the Islamic Republic and do it quickly?

On Wednesday night, Trump's Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian, landed in New York. He will also address the General Assembly.

According to Iranian state media, Iran has expressed certain demands to US special envoy Steve Witkoff in order to agree to open the Strait of Hormuz. Among other things, it demands that the US lift the blockade on the country's ports and pay compensation.
