Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the green light for the poison attack in Salisbury, UK, in 2018. That is the conclusion of the public investigation that is now complete.

According to the investigation, Putin is therefore morally responsible for the murder of mother of three Dawn Sturgess, who died after her boyfriend gave her a found perfume bottle containing the highly lethal Soviet nerve agent Novichok.

The poison was actually intended to kill the Russian ex-agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, who were poisoned in Salisbury four months earlier. The double spy Skripal and his daughter survived with serious injuries.

According to the investigation, Russia wanted to demonstrate power, British media reports. The poison in the bottle was enough to kill thousands – Sturgess had no chance of surviving.

After the investigation was published, the government in London summoned the Russian ambassador. At the same time, sanctions were announced against the military intelligence service GRU, which is accused of being behind the poisoning.
