Wind Europe has analyzed around 40,000 posts from anti-wind power groups. Sweden accounts for the largest share of posts, followed by France, Norway, Finland, the UK and Germany. Together, the six countries account for 74 percent of all posts.

Messages about economic risks, or claiming that wind power solutions are not technically feasible, have the greatest impact in Sweden, the UK, France and Poland. In Norway, Latvia and Italy, posts about hidden interests, fraud and anti-democratic tendencies dominate.

According to Wind Europe, pro-Russian groups, fossil fuel companies, politicians and alternative media are behind the disinformation.
