The police fired four shots in an attempt to stop the car, which was being driven by a man in his 20s. One shot hit a 12-year-old boy sitting in the car. Prosecutor Anders Jakobsson has now announced that the investigation into misconduct is being closed, Helsingborgs Dagblad reports.
"The first shots were fired at the same time as the police officer was hit while pushing someone away and saving a woman's life. In that case, it was a matter of self-defense, and the force used was not clearly unjustifiable," he tells the newspaper.
The police fired two more shots as the car was driving away. The prosecutor says these shots were unjustified. However, according to Jakobsson, the police "had difficulty controlling themselves", which is why it was a case of so-called excessive self-defense.
