A former elite rider was reported to the police earlier this year by the Swedish Equestrian Federation for mistreating his horses. The investigation has now been dropped after both witnesses and the accused rider have been questioned, according to SVT.
The discovery was made in an investigation conducted by Aftonbladet, which found that horses were subjected to violent punishment and that the elite rider also behaved unacceptably towards staff.
The Swedish Equestrian Federation filed a police report and also banned the rider from all national team-related activities.
