The invasive leaf flatworm has now been found in Blekinge as well. The discovery was made during an inspection at a nursery, reports SVT Blekinge.
This is bad news, says Annika Smålander, at the County Administrative Board of Blekinge, to SVT.
The leaf flatworm (Obama nungara) has been detected several times in Skåne in recent years. It is an aggressive predator that, among other things, eats earthworms, and if it spreads, it can lead to reduced plant growth and poorer harvests.
It does not survive being frozen, but has still managed to find sheltered hiding places.
It must not become like with the killer slug, we must take action now, warns Annika Smålander.
