The requirement for an introductory course for private practice driving has been mandatory for supervisors and students since 2006.
According to the government, the course requirement has been a barrier to private practice driving and has limited the opportunity for students to practise driving with several different instructors.
In April of this year, the Riksdag voted through a legislative amendment that removes the training requirement.
However, both the supervisor and the student must meet other requirements. The person who will supervise must be 24 years old, have had a driving licence for at least five of the last ten years, and submit an application to the Swedish Transport Agency.
The student must in turn have a valid driving licence, according to the Swedish Transport Agency.
