According to Microsoft's website, the problems - which began at 5 pm Swedish time - will be resolved around midnight.
Among the services affected are the Office suite, the game Minecraft and Xbox Live.
Swedish sites such as Systembolaget and SAS were also down, but were back up and running late Wednesday evening.
Just over a week ago, a similar, but more extensive disruption occurred when market-leading Amazon's cloud services were down.
