The prize is awarded each year to “an outstanding work of fiction in commendable Swedish translation.” The prize money, starting this year at 200,000 kronor, is divided equally between author and translator.
This year, the following works are nominated: “Lamento” (Madame Nielsen/Jonas Rasmussen), “Orbits” (Samantha Harvey/Eva Åsefeldt), “The Good and the Bad” (Samanta Schweblin/Annakarin Thorburn), “The Gardener and Death” (Georgi Gospodinov/Hanna Sandborgh) and “The Cow Gives Birth at Night” (Pajtim Statovci/Ulrika Enckell).
The award winners will be announced on November 3.
