The ICC issued the arrest warrant against Netanyahu and Israel's former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in November last year. They are accused of having committed war crimes through the use of starvation as a weapon in the Gaza war, and of crimes against humanity through murder, persecution and "other inhuman acts".
Israel has strongly opposed the allegations and called the order "anti-Semitic".
Arrest warrants have also been issued against three leaders of the terrorist-stamped Hamas, but they were dropped after their death.
The US has also reacted strongly to the court's decision. Several judges and prosecutors at the ICC have been subject to American sanctions since the arrest warrant against Netanyahu was issued. The sanctions mean that the individuals are prohibited from traveling to the US and may have any assets in the country frozen.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio claimed in a statement in August this year that the ICC is being used as an "instrument for legal warfare against the US and our close ally Israel".
