Scandalous scenes unfolded during the Serie A match between Cremonese and Inter on Sunday.
A Bengal flare was thrown onto the pitch and hit Cremonese goalkeeper Emil Audero, who fell to the ground clutching his head. He was able to get up quickly and finish the match.
The person who threw it reportedly seriously injured three of his fingers and had to be taken to hospital, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
At the hospital, police arrived and arrested him, and the newspaper reports that both the injured man and Inter's supporters now face punishment.
Inter won 2–0 and top the league table.
