That doesn't mean they aren't seriously injured and still need care, says chief physician Anders Damm-Hejmdal of Hovedstaden's emergency response, on Danish TV2.

The collision between two local trains occurred near Hillerød at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday. A total of 18 people were injured.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Danish Accident Investigation Board. The head of safety at train operator Lokaltog believes it may take a few weeks before there are indications of whether human, technical or organizational error is behind the accident.

Salvage work was underway at the site on Friday.

Corrected: In a previous version, the wrong number of injured was stated.
