The Swedish national team striker has had some issues lately. Already last week, his toe was a problem, as was an eye injury, but Alexander Isak still played in the loss to Fulham (1–3).
The toe injury continues to plague the 25-year-old at the start of the English football season and he is a big question mark ahead of Saturday's storm match in the Premier League against Manchester City, says Newcastle's coach Eddie Howe.
"Alex is still working on his toe injury. It's uncertain if he can play. He hasn't trained yet so we have to make a decision about him", says Howe at a press conference ahead of the City match, reports Newcastle's Twitter account.
The injury is also worrying news for Sweden's national team coach Jon Dahl Tomasson. On Wednesday, he will present his squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Slovakia and Estonia.
