The injured person was found outdoors in a residential area in the Sätra district on Friday evening.
At 22.02 the first call came in to the control centre about loud bangs in Sätra. There have been quite a few calls coming in and we suspect that shots were fired. An injured person was found, and it is still unclear what type of injuries they have, police spokesman Magnus Jansson Klarin tells TT.
The person was conscious when taken into care by medical personnel.
A major police operation is under way and the location where the injured person was found has been cordoned off pending the arrival of technicians.
All train traffic in and out of Gävle has been stopped due to the police investigation.
– A hunt is under way and we do not yet know if it is one or more perpetrators, says Jansson Klarin.
No suspect has been arrested.
