A woman in her 30s who has been charged with aggravated assault of her infant is to undergo a forensic psychiatric examination, writes Göteborgs District Court in a press release.
The woman is suspected of having given the prematurely born baby blood pressure-lowering medication at Östra Hospital in Göteborg during a period in April and May 2021. Moreover, she failed to feed the baby.
According to the district court, there is "convincing evidence that the woman committed the act". However, the court does not consider it proven that she gave the baby medication after April 27.
The court now believes that a forensic psychiatric examination is needed to determine what sentence the woman should receive.
The next court hearing is scheduled for December 10.
