The Norwegian biathlete Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold has had heart problems during the season opener. Now she has been operated on for the problems. I have felt safe and am incredibly grateful for the expertise and care I have received along the way, she says to NTB.

On several occasions during the season, the Norwegian has testified about heart problems. And just a few weeks later, she chose to cancel several competitions due to the same problems.

Now, the Norwegian Ski Association confirms that she has undergone surgery for heart rhythm disturbances.

I have received very good support and am grateful to my family, my support team, healthcare, and everyone else who has stood by my side during this process, she says.

The operation, which went smoothly, was performed on Wednesday, and already now Tandrevold is back in light training.

However, when she can return to the World Cup is more uncertain, although the 28-year-old is optimistic about a quick comeback.

Now I just need to get going properly again and build up my training step by step. Then I think I can be back in the World Cup after New Year's. But it's too early to say if I'll make it back to Oberhof or not, she continues.

The competitions in Oberhof begin on January 9.
