Shortly after Iran's match against New Zealand (2–2), the Iranian players had to leave Los Angeles for the national team base in Mexico due to urgent visa issues.
But that didn't stop the FIFA president from talking to the players.
"Thank you for being here. This evokes enormous emotion. But you are stronger than anything. And you send a strong message to the whole world," Infantino said in the locker room, reports RMC Sport.
After the match, FIFA received criticism from the Iranian team, who believe that the federation is not doing enough to help them.
"Everything is a disaster for us," said striker Mehdi Taremi, according to AFP.
