US President Donald Trump took credit on Monday for FIFA's decision to let American World Cup star Folarin Balogun play in the round of 16 against Belgium, despite receiving a red card in the previous match.
The move has prompted Fairsquare to report Infantino to the IOC's ethics council for "repeated violations of the rules on political neutrality," the organization said in a statement.
Infantino is one of the IOC's 107 members and has sworn an oath that requires members to act independently and without the influence of commercial and political interests.
FIFA has not commented on the matter.
