During the World Cup, the president of the International Football Association Board (FIFA) flew a distance equivalent to almost two and a half laps around the world, in a private jet from the Qatari government.
The plane has been used more than once a day on average, accumulating a total of 115 flight hours. The figures do not include Infantino's trip to Qatar for the former emir's funeral in the middle of the World Cup, writes AP.
Infantino's travel habits during the group stage alone caused as much carbon dioxide emissions as 78 people's total air travel for an entire year, according to the BBC.
The AP's investigation is based on analysed flight logs and images. FIFA has not commented on the information.
