A dozen people, including at least three minors, were prosecuted on Friday in Paris for multiple kidnappings and attempted abductions of relatives of cryptocurrency billionaires.
The defendants are part of a group of 25 suspects in total.
This involves, among other things, a kidnapping attempt in mid-May when the daughter of the CEO of a cryptocurrency company, her husband, and their children were attacked in broad daylight on a street in Paris. Masked men tried to force the woman into a van, but she managed with the help of passersby to free herself from the kidnappers who fled the scene. The attack was filmed and the clip spread on social media.
The kidnapping attempt is one of several similar ones in recent times in France.
